POM (acetal copolymer) sheets and rods are perfect for machining, due to their top-notch dimensional stability. Acetal is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that is specifically designed to offer outstanding stiffness and dimensional stability. In fact, acetal copolymers are often used in applications that require high levels of stiffness and low surface tension. Additionally, acetal resin has minimal moisture absorption, meaning that it boasts excellent dimensional stability for close-tolerance machined parts. Plus, the physical properties of acetal copolymer remain consistent in a variety of different environments because it absorbs so little moisture. Lastly, acetal copolymers can be used in large shapes instead of Acetal homopolymer (Delrin), which is more likely to develop centerline porosity.
